Weymouth Corner Under EMF Attack?

By Dagmar M. Neubauer, DA

Many residents and neighbors of Weymouth Corner San Pedro, California are battling the proposed installation of a 9 antenna cell phone mega-tower. The First Presbyterian Church has volunteered to place 'it' on their rooftop.

In an official letter the church proudly announces the agreement with AT&T to improve cell phone service in our neighborhood. Although they reassuringly express they have studied all the pros and cons concerning EMF safety and health issues, can we be sure they have done their homework?

In a recent meeting with the Pastor and church board members I asked that very question. I was politely told to read the church's letter on their web site. It would address all my concerns. I was also introduced to the church's pre-school teacher. She assured me that an independent consulting engineer, hired by the church, explained all the saftety ramifications to her and other church members. After that my neighbors and I were told to respect the church's decision and shown the door.

Well, let's look at their letter:

They state the American Cancer Society, the FCC, the CDC, the FDA, the WHO etc. have contributed to the current safety standards for cell phone transmission signals and that a small group of neighbors don't believe these organizations. No amount of study or research will convince them of the cell phone antenna safety.

To me it seems the church is telling us to disregard the warnings of hundreds of professional scientists, physicians, electromagnetic radiation (EMR) researchers from top universities worldwide who are linking problems such as electrosensitivity, blood brain barrier changes, learning and behavioral effects, and DNA damage to EMR. Their studies, research and observations are so overpowering they cannot be ignored.

Scientists, physicians and other health policy experts are expressing their opinions. Please read here:

On the other hand, since 1913, the American Cancer Society has received billions of dollars in donations for the research of cancer. Today, people are still walking for the "cure".

The Food and Drug Administration still approves neurotoxins such as Aspartame and Monosodium glutamate (MSG). Our children are still receiving vaccinations containing Thimerosal (Mercury), Aluminum, and other toxic substances.

Can we trust their safety standards? How many years did it take these organizations to warn us about tobacco and asbestos?

But wait, the church took an extra step before making their decision. They asked Bill Hammett, an independent consulting engineer of Hammett & Edison, Inc., newly acquired by Pacific Venture Investments, LLC, an investment company of broadcast, wireless and digital technologies, to measure existing radio frequency emissions. Now, in Bill's official statement he says he was retained on behalf of AT&T Mobility.

Oops ... I thought he was an independent consultant.

This is Bill Hammett's statement:
